The Cockle Train is a beautifully restored, fully working, steam train. It chugs along the coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa with literally everyone you see waving up at you! It’s a beautiful way to spend a morning and kids love sitting in the old-style carriages and listening to the train ‘toot toot’!
Constructed in 1854, the railway provided a link between the river Murray and the ocean wharf at Point Elliot, and later Victor Harbor.
The 30 minute journey begins in Goolwa near the mouth of the Murray River, and travels to Victor Harbor. The ride offers spectacular coastal scenery with a stunning view of the beach.
Services operation during most school holidays and every Sunday and Wednesday. Check the official website for up to date information.
